In short

Who we are

Demosthenes is provided by [legal name], [postal address]. You can contact us at [support email address]. In these terms, "we" and "us" means us, and "you" means the person using Demosthenes.

Who can use Demosthenes

You must be 13 or older to create an account. If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission to buy a subscription or the Pass, and they should read these terms with you.

Your account

You sign in with a code sent to your email address. Keep access to that email to yourself, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.

What you get

Free

All GCSE and A-level courses, spaced-repetition review, the Knowledge Map, the Library and the culture rooms.

AI Tutor subscription

Demo's marking, Ask Demosthenes, walkthroughs, Sandbox and Debate mode, within one weekly AI allowance that they all share. Your Account page shows how much of it you have used. The price is £14.99 a month or £119 a year, and includes any VAT that applies.

Exam Pass

A one-off payment of £16.99, which includes any VAT that applies. It gives everything in the AI Tutor subscription, with the full weekly AI allowance, for 28 days from purchase. It does not renew. If you buy another while one is running, the new 28 days start when the current pass ends.

Admissions + Academy Pass

A one-off payment of £24.99, which includes any VAT that applies. It gives 12 months' access to the admissions-test material (ESAT, TMUA, TARA, STEP, UCAT and LNAT) and every Academy course. It does not renew.

How to cancel, and when you can get a refund, are set out in our refunds and cancellations policy.

Fair use

AI features share one weekly allowance, shown on your Account page, which resets each week. Please don't:

We may suspend an account that seriously breaks these rules. Unless it's urgent, we'll tell you why first and give you the chance to explain.

About the content and Demo

Your work and our content

Your answers, notes and uploads belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them to provide the service, including sending them to Demo's AI provider to mark or reply. The courses, questions, notes and design of Demosthenes belong to us or our licensors. You may use them for your own study, but not to copy, sell or republish them.

Sending work to a teacher

When you send work to a teacher, we email it to the address you give and show your email address so they can reply. Only send work to teachers who expect it. There is a daily limit on how many you can send.

Changes and availability

We keep improving Demosthenes, so features and content change. We'll try to keep it available, but we can't promise it will always work without interruption. If we make a change that significantly reduces something you've paid for, we'll tell you and you can cancel for a refund of any unused period.

Our responsibility to you

If we fail to keep to these terms, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of that failure. We're not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your rights under consumer law. For example, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Account, then Delete my account. This cancels any subscription immediately and ends any Pass. If you'd like a refund, contact us before deleting. We may close an account that has seriously or repeatedly broken these terms.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
